Tribal Infrastructure and Restoration Fund

Tribal communities are equipped to tackle under-funded projects that address water infrastructure, climate resilience, and ecosystem restoration. Financial support and technical assistance help to facilitate improvements to water systems, restoration of watersheds on Tribal lands, and can also help Tribes leverage additional funding.

The U.S. federal government is obligated to fund irrigation infrastructure and the restoration of Tribal lands. However, a maze of overlapping agencies often fail to provide Tribal governments with necessary resources.

Through this Fund, we partner with Tribes to help finance the planning and implementation of critical infrastructure improvements that address urgent water needs. We support the restoration of wetlands, riparian habitat, and other ecologically and culturally important resources that are often neglected within broader watershed restoration efforts. We help the Tribes monetize water conservation and other outcomes achieved by these projects and related programs to create revenue streams that can defray costs and help repay the low-cost financing from the Fund.

This Fund empowers Tribes by enhancing local expertise and capacity, creating a sustainable revenue model for operations and maintenance, ensuring continuous funding for restoration initiatives, and supporting Tribes in independently planning and executing their own projects.

Help fund this critical work.
