Cooling Water Conservation Fund - Funding Announcement

BlueCommons invites Phoenix businesses to apply for funding under its Cooling Water Conservation Fund—a groundbreaking initiative poised to reduce industrial water use in the Phoenix metropolitan area and help businesses meet sustainability goals.

BlueCommons is partnering with municipal water providers in Arizona, including the City of Phoenix, to advance capital to support the cost of upgrades to industrial cooling systems at little to no up-front cost to customers since funds advanced by BlueCommons will be swiftly recovered based on actual water and cost savings achieved through the upgrades.

Why is this important?

Industrial water consumption is a significant source of overall water demand. Wet cooling systems used in many large local buildings use large amounts of water relying on evaporation to transfer heat away from the facility. Since not all of the water is evaporated during the cooling process, unused water can be recycled through the system. However, concentrated salts and pollutants in the cooling water loop, limit the number of times water can be re-used by a system before it must be discarded (a measure known as cycles of concentration). Relatively simple upgrades to these systems can dramatically increase the number of cycles during which the same water can be re-used for cooling, helping businesses significantly reduce their municipal water demands.

BlueCommons is making technical assistance and funding available to local businesses. This presents a unique and game-changing opportunity for businesses to enhance their environmental stewardship while reaping substantial benefits.

Benefits for Businesses:

  • This initiative helps position participating businesses as water conservation and sustainability leaders within their communities.

  • Reduced water consumption results in significant water savings over time.

  • Additional operational costs savings and lower carbon footprint at project sites.

  • As funds are recycled back into the Cooling Water Conservation Fund they will be made available to future projects, helping expand impact.

BlueCommons invites Phoenix businesses to join this transformative movement. Together, we’ll create a more sustainable future! For more information on how to participate please contact us at info@thebluebank.org
